About Us

We are all keen wildlife supporters as well as DIY enthusiasts. Our group first got together in 2014 when the founder, Mike Tucker, put a letter in the Maidenhead Advertiser asking for volunteers to join him to re-invigorate a project that he had begun in Millennium year to build and install nest boxes for owls and raptors in the Bisham area. He quickly signed up several members who were keen to help with a very worthwhile wildlife project and the group has since grown to about eight who meet up on Wednesday mornings to do some sawing and hammering and have a natter and a cup of coffee!

We now make a wide range of boxes for other birds as well as bats and hedgehogs and bees.

We quickly established a partnership with the Bisham Barn Owl Group http://bishambarnowlgroup.blogspot.com/ who monitor local owl numbers by making seasonal checks on nest boxes. They have a database of more than 400 sites with nest boxes so although not all are checked annually, it is a big task to monitor them and some of our group's members help out with this.
